Carnitas Uruapan - Outing Number Two to Pilsen

I mentioned on Instagram a few weeks ago that we attempted a taco crawl wth some friends in Pilsen that was almost a huge fail, when we realized that every spot inlacing the much anticipated Carnitas Uruapan was already closed for the day. After mentioning how badly we missed eating at their location, they responded via social media saying to come in for free tacos on them! Of course my husband and I decided we might as well chow down on some carnitas and took the opportunity a couple nights after the taco crawl to make out way back down to Pilsen. We didn't end up taking them up on the free tacos opting to pay the reasonable pieces instead but we did definitely find a new go-to spot.

They really only serve one thing and that's carnitas. You can eat there or take it to go which is what we deiced to do. Basically you buy the chopped carnitas (chopped up right in front of you after they give you a big hunk to nibble on while placing your order!) by the pound along wth the fresh corn tortillas, lightly spicy fresh salsa, and guac. They also had a few other carnitas related items including chicharrones. They offered two sides - frijoles and nopales salad (cactus salad) but I had a bunch of fresh kale at home that we used for a super simple kale & lemon vinaigrette salad which was the perfect addition to the right little tacos.

Have you guys ever been to Carnitas Uruapan? Or other great spots in Pilsen? We realized it's only like a 10 minute drive from where we live so will definitely be heading back soon!
