Crockpot Tikka Masala Turkey Meatballs (Eggless Recipe)

Since finding out that Ford has an egg allergy I have pretty much just eliminated egg from our home (the cross contamination fear/clean up was more annoying than not eating eggs). That said I’ve discovered that there are some great substitutes for eggs when making things like turkey meatballs which are a staple in this house.

A couple post's back I shared this simple way to make eggless turkey meatballs in a more Italian themed flavor profile but this recipe is very similar!

What I Used:

  • 1lb ground turkey thigh

  • 1/2 can of whole fat unsweetened coconut milk (optional)

  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs

  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 Tbsp tikka seasoning

  • 1 jar of your favorite tikka masala sauce

  • 1 package Trader Joe’s Frozen White Rice

  • 1 red bell pepper, 1 yellow bell pepper, 2 zucchinis all diced

How To:

  1. Mix the applesauce & tikka seasoning in a large bowl and let sit for a minute or two

  2. Add the coconut milk (mine was really more like cream and this is absolutely optional it would work without the coconut milk/cream) and the ground turkey. Mix thoroughly and shape into golf ball sized meatballs. I made 12 in total.

  3. Brown meatballs (I used the browning function in my slow cooker) on all sides over high heat with a bit of oil. Once browned, add the jarred sauce and set on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours

  4. For the veggies simply sauté with a bit of oil and a pinch of salt over high/medium head until soft and golden.

  5. When you are ready to eat, serve up over Trader Joe’s Frozen Jasmin rice!
